Solome’s concert on tonight

During last Sunday’s show by Qwela dubbed Guitar Maetros 2, Solome opened the stage before the main acts came. She performed three songs, including Nz’ani, and revelers were left yearning for more of her sultry voice. But it was not her night.

Tonight, at Golf Course hotel, starting 7pm, Solome will take music lovers through her music journey that started way back, having being born in a musical family. The concert, My Love Story, will be her first and it will also be the launch night of her 10-track debut album. Already three singles - Nz’ani, Destiny and I Met A Man - have been released with Nz’ani grabbing the attention of listeners on both Christian and secular radio stations.

Solome, born Solome Basuuta, has influences from her family, the Gayaza High School choir and from working with musicians such as Maurice Kirya and David Pragmo Nsaiga. She also had a stint at St Francis Chapel at Makerere University and now she leads worship at Worship Harvest Ministries. All these experiences, styles and genres have molded Solome into the musician she is today.

This evening, she fully unveils herself to the world with her maiden concert and album launch. Also gracing the stage this evening will be Sam Kimera. Kimera has stayed true to his RnB roots and is the voice behind Gwe Wange. Slow Down is his latest release.

Guest will have to part with Shs 50,000, which comes with a free CD.

Kaymu.co.ug partners Rotaract for maternal health campaign

Kaymu Uganda has proven to be not just any other e-commerce website. Uganda’s Number One

Online Marketplace recently took it to the next level, partnering with the Rotaract Club of Kampala City in the support of an initiative recognizing the necessity of Maternal Health Care in the country. The Rotaract Club of Kampala is a volunteer organization made up of various business and professional leaders who aim at helping to build goodwill and peace in the country through a number of humanitarian activities and just causes, health being one of the key interventions.

This year, the maternal health care campaign was developed to generate awareness and build recognition towards the growing necessity in the country. Maternal health care has been a pending issue in Uganda as even the maternal mortality rate has proven to be devastating. The initiative aims at granting women access to high-quality maternal health care services through cooperation and partnerships with community leaders, companies, women and health workers to understand and address the reasons for the vast records of maternal sickness and the rising death rates for the women and children living in unbearable conditions.

Kaymu, in conjunction with the Rotaract Club of Kampala City, held an annual literacy quiz Understanding the Maternal Health Challenge; A week-long event that ran from the 23^rd of March to the 28^th Grand Finale. The Rotaract Club of Kampala City is supported by Rotary Club, a large humanitarian organization that carries out a wide range of community service projects in various parts of the country. The event, which was held at Sundowners, identified the need to generate awareness and share ideas concerning Maternal Health Care. Kaymu’s Country Manager, Justin Christianson, also took some time to sensitize those that were present, on some of the advantages of e-commerce and the benefits of partaking in the buying and selling of products online. The event attracted companies from far and wide including the New Vision, Axial, Urban Tv, Nyange and DFCU, as well as nearly 30 Rotary clubs in Kampala and 50 Rotary Clubs Up country.

The event managed to yield up to USD. 10,000 from both foreign and local sponsors, but nonetheless, the collaborators called upon the public to take this initiative into their own hands as the mothers of our nation are the foundation of our existence. Kaymu also launched an online campaign towards the cause by enabling online buyers to donate 10% of their purchase costs towards the maternal health care initiative. This can be done by simply typing # MaternalHealthMatters in the comment box upon placing their orders. Alternatively, Kaymu also allows buyers to purchase charity products or items should prove to be necessities towards the maternal health care initiative, e.g. mosquito nets, appliances, health products, and many others, all of which are availed at affordable prices on kaymu.co.ug.

Nigeria's Sinach to perform at Rubaga Miracle Cathedral

Sinach (born Osinachi Kalu), the award winning Nigerian songstress will be performing live at the Miracle Centre Cathedral Rubaga this weekend. She is in town for two shows at the Robert Kayanja run church. She goes on stage Friday evening at 5:30pm at the Shs 50,000 VIP show. The family show will take place on Easter Monday and tickets cost Shs 20,000, Shs 10,000 and Shs 2,000 for the special guests, adults and children respectively. Proceeds from the two-day worship concert will go towards Afri Aid. Afri Aid is a brainchild of Pastor Robert Kayanja aimed at helping the people of war-ravaged South Sudan. 

Sinach, who is married to Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy, has written over 200 songs and won several awards. She believes in writing from her heart and knowing what the Spirit of God is saying to the Church. Mostly inspired by the ministry of the Word by her Pastor, she has written songs such as Awesome God, Simply Devoted, I am ready for Your Spirit, Shout of the King, All things are possible, Born to win, Fire in me, More of You, No failure with God, 'This is your Season', which won the Song of the Year award in 2008 and still counting.

She has won several awards through the years and among them, the prestigious Love World Awards for ‘Song Writer and Vocalist of the year’. She has also won awards for her work in providing praise and worship music material for the church in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Several churches and people all over the world sing many of her songs.  As a gifted vocalist and a worship leader with the Love World Music team, Sinach has ministered to millions of people all over the world. G Way in 'Big Godo' charity concert

Cooper and G-Way is the biggest gospel music group producing urban gospel music. On Easter Sunday, they will hold the Big Godo charity concert will take place this weekend at the Kampala Serena hotel. Big Godo is the title of their hit song meaning our God is Big released last year and went ahead to be a favourite for urban gospel music lovers and topping charts on Christian radio stations. They are also known for songs like Emigugu Gyo, Makondere, Mercy We Cried and Sibiwulilanga among others. The group is determined to push their stature higher and leave a mark not only on the Ugandan music industry but the international scene as well. For this show, they are also calling on the services of Fille, Daisy Ejang, Naava Grey, Exodus, Levixone and international artiste Anthony Faulkner. Ejang, Levixone and Exodus are part of the crème de la crème of Uganda’s gospel music scene.  Faulkner already has songs with G Way and Cooper. Gospel music lovers should look forward to watching live performance of some of the American singer/song writer’s songs off his latest album Guardian Angel. He is also know for songs like Stop Searching,  and I Trust You among others. Another performance to look out for is that of Faith featuring G Way. Tickets cost Shs 50,000 and Shs 100,000 for VIP.
